Travel tools

Here are some useful websites I use when traveling.

Research
It helps to do some research first to find a good place to stay, what to do when you get there.

TripAdvisor - great site for hotel and destination reviews by other travelers.
Lonely Planet - travel site for 'off the beaten path' recommendations
Virtual Tourist - novel concept: reviews from people who live there

Reservations
I've found that no single site has the best rates- you have to shop around.
Orbitz - good travel site, nice interface
Expedia - also good
Hotwire - great rates but you don't get to choose who it is with; i use mostly for car rental
SeatGuru - when you're picking a flight, this site helps pick the best seat

Getting To/From There
SuperShuttle - when you don't want to drive and a taxi is too expensive
Flightview - if you're not traveling, you can watch someone else do it
Garmin Nuvi - if you have to drive somewhere new, this is better than a map
