LAX to Woodland Hills by bus & train

A friend who wanted to visit asked if they could get from the airport to here (Woodland Hills) without renting a car. In Los Angeles that's a pretty big challenge. LA is a pretty spread out city, and our transportation is fragmented. Buses go everywhere, but trains are limited.

But thanks to recent developments in city transit, we were able to piece the two together and find a way to get from LAX to Woodland Hills (aka Warner Center) by both bus & train.

1. First you take the Flyaway Bus from LAX to Union Station. - http://www.lawa.org/flyaway/
2. Then you take the Metro Rail Red Line Westbound from Union Station to North Hollywood. - http://www.mta.net/images/802.pdf
3. Then you take the Metro Orange Line Bus 901 Westbound bus from North Hollywood to Warner Center. - http://www.mta.net/images/901.pdf

The Flyaway is $3.00.
The Red Line is $1.25.
The Orange Line is $1.25.

Total time is about 2.5 hours. Much longer than driving, but hopefully easier than dealing with traffic.

On each route you are riding from one end to the other. You don't have to worry about which stop to get off.

The Warner Center stations is closest to the Warner Center Marriott. That's not the cheapest hotel in the area, but easiest to reach from the bus stop. There's also a Holiday Inn on Ventura Blvd.

We are from Texas and didn't think there's a public transportation to Woodland Hills until we saw this posting ... consider the time/gas for someone to come to pick us up better than driving for sure!!!
